Project 52
Alongside 20 other artists, Rachel creates a visual documentation of the year 2023. This collaborative project requires each artist to create an accordion book in which each spread represents a week of their life. Rachel is incorporating poetry and embroidery into every spread,
as well as collage and photography.
Childhood Objects
Rachel creates a coptic, drum drumleaf book that reminisces on important objects from her childhood. Poems for these objects are written alongside colorful, sewn spirals. Each spiral contains 3 colors that Rachel associates with her memories of each childhood object.
A Neverending Story
Rachel creates an accordion book that closes to create a small cube. Written on the pages are a poem written by Rachel.
As You Float Down This River
As part of her scripture study, Rachel reads a chapter of the Book of Mormon, circles one word from each verse, and writes a poem for each chapter which includes each of the circled words.
This piece uses her poem after 1 Nephi 2, a photograph made by Rachel, and embroidery.
